Simple Workouts: Sled Work
Changing up and adding new exercises to your workout is key to promoting muscle growth, reducing the chance of injury, and keeping your workouts from getting stale. A simple but great exercise is the sled. Sled pulls, or prowler pushes, engage your full body, creating functional strength and mobility, and can be used for recovery. Many times, we can overlook simple exercises such as pulling or pushing weights, but these are the fundamental movements we do each day.
When we pull a sled, we work on fixing hip imbalances, our gait, and we train strength through range of motion. These are all vital for everyday movement and longevity.
Sled workouts can also be a change of pace from your usual lower-body days. Pulling the sled counts as cardio. If you can keep your heart rate up while training your lower body, you’ll be killing two birds with one stone. Now that we are on the cusp of summer, getting outside is on everyone’s mind, so why not get some sun while pulling the sled?
