Simple Workouts: Earthquake Bar
One bar that is always part of my workout routine is the Earthquake Bar. This bar is made from a wood-like material, and as its name suggests, it shakes and moves. You hang weights to the bar with bands and perform exercises such as bench presses, shoulder presses, rows, Romanian deadlifts, and more. Regardless of your strength, if it’s your first time using this bar, it will humble you.
The bar builds traditional strength through the weight you place on it, but it also develops a type of functional stability strength that is difficult to train in other ways. After performing the same exercise repeatedly, our bodies can become accustomed to it, leading to diminishing returns. This bar can serve as a change-up from iron weights. Originally designed for rehab, it was later found to be valuable in strength training, regardless of injury.
If you have never tried it, start light and work your way up. Feel free to ask any of our employees to help you get started, and ask any questions you may have.
